Dr. Margaret “Peg” Ackerman

Peg founded Ackerman Information Corporation in 1980 and has since built the company into one of the most respected government relations firms in Colorado.  She is recognized as an expert in local government issues, and currently represents county clerks, coroners, sheriffs and treasurers.  In that capacity she has developed a strong knowledge of the Joint Budget Committee process and public funding issues.  She has extensive experience in criminal justice, elections, public investments, civil procedures, and affordable housing.  Peg has also been a political consultant in numerous successful city, state and county campaigns, as well as ballot issue campaigns.

Thomas Hill, Esq.

Tom joined Ackerman Information Corporation in 2007 to strengthen lobbying efforts on matters requiring legal expertise. He serves as general counsel for the firm and assists with corporate business development. Prior to joining Ackerman, Tom operated a branch office in Denver for a Colorado Springs-based law firm and was assistant regional counsel for the Social Security Administration.

Ken Smith, Strategic Partner

Over the last 20 years, Ken has served as a campaign director, political director, field director, media consultant, ballot access consultant and general consultant for dozens of local, state and national political campaigns for candidates, ballot initiatives and referenda.  His expertise in community and political organizing, message development, direct mail, targeting and GOTV is recognized throughout the metropolitan region.  Ken has an impressive record of success representing businesses before local jurisdictions. He works with diverse private sector clients and professional associations to develop and execute government affairs, public affairs, public relations, electoral and public-private partnership strategies with state, local, and special district governments and agencies.

Steve Balcerovich, Strategic Partner

Steve has over 15 years of lobbying experience at the state Capitol and has forged strong relationships with members of both parties in both chambers.  His emphasis has been the representation of business interests.  As a result, Steve has a thorough knowledge of taxation, environmental, regulatory, and general business issues.  Over the years, Steve has helped his clients reach a high success rate at the Capitol, most notably Xcel Energy, the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry, and Parker Water and Sanitation District.  Steve also has an extensive working relationship with well-known pollster and media consultant Floyd Ciruli.

Julie Riber

Julie joined Ackerman Information Corporation in 2003 to manage the office, handle financial and administrative matters and provide human resources.  Julie served as an administrative assistant with the National Conference of State Legislatures, where she helped develop a computerized legislative information system. She was subsequently hired by another firm to act as legislative software liaison to the Colorado State Legislature.  She has since managed other offices and provided bookkeeping services in private sector businesses.
